The Derby Health Collaborative, Derby Recreation Commission, the City of Derby, the Derby Library and Emery Park BMX are planning its annual I Bike Derby event for bike month in May. Our tag line, it’s healthy, it’s fun, it’s trending certainly can influence students.
One important event we hope you will partner on with us is Bike to School Day, scheduled for May 10, 2017. We have asked the Derby Police to be on extra alert that day and we will do a social media campaign educating motorists. With summer months just a few days away, we want to ensure that all students understand bicycle safety and the rules of the road. We also think it would be super cool if nearly all students could bike to school. Imagine an overflowing bicycle rack!

Derby Skate Park BMX Demo and Challenge, May 7
Emery Park BMX is coming to the Derby Skate Park. Emery Park provides competitive BMX racing forboys, girls and adults from ages 3 to 50+ BMX racing is an individual sport and is designed to build self confidence and self esteem in anyone who participates. Come see and learn more about the sport of BMX. Hot dogs provided for bicyclist.
Dates/Times: May 7, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Fee: Free, no registration is required.

Learn to BMX Free Clinic @ Emery BMX Park, May 13
Emery Park BMX is inviting youth to come learn how to race BMX. Emery Park provides competitive BMX racing for boys, girls and adults from ages 3 to 50+ BMX racing is an individual sport and is designed to build self confidence and self esteem in anyone who participates. Races are organized according to age group and skill levels, so everyone gets the opportunity to compete on a fair and competitive basis. Even beginner riders have the chance to race safely with other new riders. Call Emery Park for more information at 316-262-9878.
