The DRC Kid's Club will open on Wednesday, October 21 at 4:00pm. Please see the media release listed below for more information.

On Thursday 10-15-20 a Kids Club employee experienced symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and was tested. That employee tested positive on Friday 10-16-20 and DRC management was made aware of this Saturday morning. The employee worked in the Kids Club on the mornings of Tuesday 10-13-20 and Wednesday 10-14-20. All employees in the area on those days were masked throughout their shifts and cleaning procedures were being regularly conducted. The DRC closed the Kids Club on Saturday 10-17-20. All affected Kids Club employees were quarantined and affected Kids Club parents were informed of the situation.
The DRC has since been advised by a disease investigator from the Sedgwick County Health Department to continue quarantine for employees in contact with this positive individual for 14 days from their contact. The DRC has also advised parents of children in the Kids Club on those days to keep their children home for 14 days as well. As of 10/20/20 there have been no additional reports of symptoms or positive COVID-19 cases resulting from this exposure with either employees or kids in the Kids Club.
The Sedgwick County Health Department reviewed sanitizing procedures and steps taken with staff and advised that the Kids Club could be re-opened safely using existing staff that had not been exposed on the above dates and times. The DRC will re-open the Kids Club on Wednesday 10-21-20 at 4 PM. The Kids Club will operate on a modified schedule outlined below:

The DRC will be closing its Kid’s Club childcare area temporarily.

The DRC has made the decision to close the Kids Club area temporarily to thoroughly disinfect and consult with the Sedgwick County Health Department and health care professionals. In consultation with those individuals, the DRC will identify a time when it believes the Kids Club can be safely reopened and will make that known to the public. All parents of children in the Kids Club on those dates and times have been notified. Employees working with the affected employee on those dates and times have been notified and asked to remain home until further notice.

The DRC will make further information about actions moving forward available to the public by 5:00 PM Tuesday 10-20-20. Questions regarding this situation can be directed to Director of Administration, Derek Smith derek@derbyrec.com or 316-788-3781
