Coloring Contest, May 1 – 8 
Hey kids, enter the I Bike Derby coloring contest. The coloring page will be available at your school or download it at www.derbyrec.com. Return your page to your school or drop it off at the DRC by May 8, 2019 (Bike to School Day). Your page may be selected for a prize!

Poker Ride & Bike Month Kick Off Event

Join us for the kickoff event for the 2019 I Bike Derby Month. We will start and end at Madrocks and ride approximately a 5 mile route stopping at stations to receive poker cards. Best poker hand at the end of the ride will receive a prize. Food and drinks are on your own. 

Dates/Times:  Friday, May 3, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Fee:     Free, no registration is required.
Location:  Madrocks in Derby


Bike About
Discover the ins and outs of Derby by bicycle. Join other Derby cyclist at the Derby Library and ride the route to see more of Derby on two wheels. Ride at your own pace while enjoying the great outdoors. The May 22 ride will celebrate Derby's 150th anniversary with a landmarks ride. (In case of inclement weather, the ride is canceled.)

Bike Safety Check and Minor Repair
The Derby Health Collaborative and the Derby Bike Month Committee have volunteered to check over your bicycle to make sure it’s in good working condition. Minor repairs will be done on site. Tougher repairs may be referred to an area bicycle shop.

Dates/Times:  Thursday, May 2, Anytime between 4:30 pm to 6:30 p.m.
Fee:  FREE, no registration is required.

Derby Skate Park BMX Challenge
Emery Park BMX is coming to the Derby Skate Park. Emery Park provides competitive BMX racing for boys, girls and adults from ages 3 to 50+.  BMX racing is an individual sport and is designed to build self-confidence and self-esteem in anyone who participates. Come see and learn more about the sport of BMX. 

Dates/Times:  Sunday, May 5, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. 
Fee:  Free, no registration is required.

Bike to School Day 
Bike to School Day encourages kids who are able to bike to school! Buckle up your helmets and join thousands of children, parents, school officials and community members nationwide for the fifth annual National Bike to School Day on May 8, 2018. National Bike to School Day provides an opportunity for schools across the country to join together to celebrate the bicycle. Share you bike to school experience #Ibikederby.

“Light the Night” Family Bike Ride
Decorate yourself and your bike and come out for a fun ride on the High Park paths.  Get creative and light up the night with your bike. Decorations must allow participant to ride safely. Bring the whole family, it's FREE.

Bike to Lunch Day

Kite Fest Kid’s Bicycle Races
Hey kids, bring your bicycle to the Kite Festival and join in on the kids race. Awards will be given to the top 3 in each category. Helmets required.
K-1st Grade Boys / Girls 2:00 pm .25 mile
2nd-3rd Grade Boys / Girls 2:15 pm .50 mile
4th-5th Grade Boys / Girls 2:30 pm 1 mile 
6th-8th Grade Boys / Girls 3:00 pm 1 mile

Tour De Derby
Join us for Tour De Derby. The Derby Mayor will lead this free, self-supported family friendly ride. Riders (and families) can ride as much or as little as they’d like. Choose the family in-lot ride, the 10 mile in town ride or the 35 mile county ride. (Both the Tour De Derby and Gavel Grinder will leave from Derby Police Station. In the case of inclement weather, the ride will be cancelled.)

Derby Gravel Grinder
Gravel riding is one of the fastest-growing styles of cycling, and for good reason: it takes riders off-road, but not too far. Gravel roads are less trafficked, more scenic, and often a little more technically challenging. Choose between an 11 mile or 24 mile ride. (Both the Tour De Derby and Gavel Grinder will leave from Derby Police Station. In the case of inclement weather, the ride will be canceled.)
