Coloring Contest, May 1 – 11
Hey kids, enter the I Bike Derby coloring contest. The coloring page will be available at your school or download it at www.derbyrec.com. Return your page to your school or drop it off at the DRC by May 11, 2018 (Bike to School Day) Dates: May 1 – 11
Discover the ins and outs of Derby by bicycle. Join other Derby cyclist at the start location and ride the route to see more of Derby on two wheels. Ride at your own pace while enjoying the great outdoors. (In case of inclement weather, the ride is cancelled.)

Bike Safety Check and Minor Repair, May 4
The Derby Health Collaborative and the Derby Bike Month Committee have volunteered to check over your bicycle to make sure it’s in good working condition. Minor repairs will be done on site. Tougher repairs may be referred to an area bicycle shop.
Dates/Times: May 4, Anytime between 4:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. Fee: FREE, no registration is required.

Bike Rodeo and Safety Check and Minor Repair, May 7

Derby Skate Park BMX Demo and Challenge, May 6
Emery Park BMX is coming to the Derby Skate Park. Emery Park provides competitive BMX racing for boys, girls and adults from ages 3 to 50+ BMX racing is an individual sport and is designed to build self-confidence and self-esteem in anyone who participates. Come see and learn more about the sport of BMX.

Bike to School Day, May 9
Bike to School Day encourage kids who are able to bike to school! Buckle up your helmets and join thousands of children, parents, school officials and community members nationwide for the fifth annual National Bike to School Day on May 9, 2018. National Bike to School Day provides an opportunity for schools across the country to join together to celebrate the bicycle. Share you bike to school experience #Ibikederby. Bike to School Flyer
“Light the Night” Family Bike Ride, May 11
Decorate yourself and your bike and come out for a fun ride on the High Park paths. Get creative and light up the night with your bike. Decorations must allow participant to ride safely. Bring the whole family, it's FREE.

American Flyers Movie, May 17
Sports physician Marcus persuades his unstable brother David to come with him and train for a bicycle race across the Rocky Mountains. Marcus doesn't tell David that he has a brain aneurysm which could render him paralyzed or dead at any given moment. Features Kevin Costner, great views of the Rockies and an insight in the tactics of bicycle races.

Kite Fest Kid’s Bicycle Races, May 19
Hey kids, bring your bicycle to the Kite Festival and join in on the kids race. Awards will be given to the top 3 in each category. Helmets required.
K-1st Grade Boys / Girls 2:00 pm .25 mile
2nd-3rd Grade Boys / Girls 2:15 pm .50 mile
4th-5th Grade Boys / Girls 2:30 pm 1 mile

Tour De Derby, May 20
Join us for Tour De Derby. The Derby Mayor will lead this free, self-supported family friendly ride. Riders (and families) can ride as much or as little as they’d like. Choose the family in-park path, the 10 mile in town ride or the 35 mile county ride. (Both the Tour De Derby and Gavel Grinder will leave from High Park. In the case of inclement weather, the ride will be cancelled.)

Derby Gravel Grinder, May 20
Gravel riding is one of the fastest-growing styles of cycling, and for good reason: it takes riders off-road, but not too far. Gravel roads are less trafficked, more scenic, and often a little more technically challenging. Choose between an 11 mile or 24 mile ride. (Both the Tour De Derby and Gavel Grinder will leave from High Park. In the case of inclement weather, the ride will be canceled.)

National Bike Challenge, May – Sept
The National Bike Challenge is a nationwide event uniting thousands of current bicyclists — and encouraging countless new riders. It is a free and easy way to challenge yourself, your colleagues and your community to ride more while competing on a local, state and national level. The Challenge is a great way to get connected to other bike-friendly — and bike-curious — folks in the community and across the country.
