Derby Community Walking Challenge


September 2017


How it works:

  • Derby residents are challenged to walk each day in September.
  • Download the tracking calendar and record the number of minutes you are active each day (other physical activity counts too).
  • Start slow and work your way up to 5 days per week with the goal of 150 minutes per week.


Join us for Community Walks on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. with "local celebrities".

  • September 9 - Randy White, Mayor City of Derby, Madison Ave Central Park
  • September 16 - Heather Bohaty, Derby School Superintendent, High Park
  • September 23 - Kathy Sexton, Derby City Manager, Madison Ave Central Park
  • September 30 – Robert Lee, Derby Police Chief, High Park

Return your card to the DRC by October 15 to be entered into a drawing for prizes.

School Activity Challenge

  • Derby students and staff are challenged to walk or be active each day in September.
  • Download the tracking calendar and record the number of minutes you are active each day (other physical activity counts too).
  • Start slow and work your way up to 5 days per week with the goal of 150 minutes per week.
  • Return your card to your school by October 10 so we can determine the top 3 “Most Active Schools”.  Prizes will be awarded.
