A personal trainer designs a training program based on your goals and physical and lifestyle capabilities. Our goals are to improve your daily activities, enhance performance, and change your appearance. In order to improve your daily activities, we will work on balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength (functional, endurance, and power).
To enhance your performance, we could help you with sport specific exercises, injury prevention, and activity specific education. In doing so, we strive to achieve a harmoniously developed body. Changing one’s appearance requires the loss of body fat and/or the increase in lean-muscle tissues. This goal is the most sought after of all goals.

Body Composition Testing
The Derby Recreation Commission offers body composition testing using the BodyMetrix Pro body composition analyzer. Used by professional sports teams like the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants, this analyzer uses non-invasive ultrasound to measure a person's body composition - the amount of body fat to lean tissue. Testing is part of your personal training session. Working with one of our certified personal trainers, you will learn your levels of body fat and lean tissue and how to maintain or improve your levels through exercise and healthy eating.
